- If the action of one player endangers another a penalty will be called
- Stick lifts and captures are called on an impedance basis
- A reasonable effort to steal the ball could involve a stick lift or trap. However, if the defender’s intent is on the offenders stick and/or body and not the ball a penalty will be called.
- Any stick lift that elevates above knee level will be called as an unsportsmanlike conduct penalty.
- Off-Sides is when a player enters the offensive zone before the ball
- exceptions:
- ball is brought into the defensive zone
- negates offensive players being off-sides
- ball carrier enters offensive zone ahead of ball, but with control of the ball
- Icing (during the last 2 minutes of a close game)
- Not applicable when:
- Penalty killing
- Legitimate pass goes errant
- Defense makes no effort to intercept a clearing shot
- Delay of Game, is when:
- Ball is caught and held longer than necessary
- Team delays a face-off
- Purposefully
- Or with slow player changes
- If the ball becomes trapped in dilapidated equipment (holy pant wearers beware!)
- A skater initiates the face-off while while any player from their team is off-sides
- Interference, is when:
- Contact is made with the goalie within the goalie crease
- One player blocks the path of another, intentionally
- Unsportsmanlike Conduct
- 'Bad mouthing' any player, fan, and/or official (will probably get you kicked out)
- Excessively arguing a penalty (we like feedback, but within reason!)
- Throwing a stick during or after play
- Goalie crease rules
- No offensive player is allow in the crease
- Unless the ball has already entered the crease
- Goalie has free rein of the goal crease and any impedance of the goalie in the crease will result in penalty
- Equipment
- all required equipment is to be worn at all times during a game
- playing without required equipment will result is a penalty
- helmets are required to be worn by players on the bench during play
- Broken Sticks
- you are required to drop your stick if it becomes compromised (broken)
- Platinum League Exceptions:
- Body positioning on the ball WILL result in contact.
- Checking for body positioning IS legal
- As long as it’s a legitimate play on the ball!
