Rules specific to the Bronze league
The intent of these rules is to make the league more appealing and accommodating to brand new players. I know that sometimes copper games don't really look like a true beginner league to someone who might be watching. I want such a person to be able to watch a game and to not be intimidated by the level of play, and also by the intensity of play, and to give it a try. As all of you know, the Bronze League is the beginner league here at Hartmann Inline Rink, and there are many players playing in this league that I do not deem as beginners any more. That being said, I do know that some people will not like these new rules and some might say that I am taking "hockey out of the game". My response will be to go play in Silver League. The Bronze League is my baby and I intend to baby it. Please understand my reasoning in the implementation of these rules, and know that it is for the overall betterment of the league.
The following rule will discourage "ringers" and force the better players to get their teammates involved:
No player will be allowed to score more than 2 goals per game, not including shoot outs. No exceptions. If a third goal is scored, that goal will not count, and play will resume with face off at the nearest face off dot.
The following rules will force people to skating wit in the scope of their abilities
Any obvious and direct cause of knock downs regardless of intent, will be deemed roughing and a 2 minute minor penalty will be assessed. If both players are deemed out of control, both players will be assessed a roughing penalty.
If any player receives three penalties in any one game, not including bench minors, that player will be automatically ejected from the game. This is not meant to make any one feel bad, it is just motivation to keep every one playing light and easy, and in control of your stick and body at all times.
The following rules will make sure that everyone feels safe at all times:
Dropping to block shots will not be allowed. If someone does this, an Unsportsmanlike penalty will be assessed. It can be a dangerous play for the player dropping, and also to any player that might be knocked down by the brave but stupid effort.
If a player is on the ground, that player will not be allowed to play the ball until he or she is back up on their skates. If someone does this, an Unsportsmanlike penalty will be assessed. Again, this can be a dangerous play for the player on the ground and also to any player that is in the area
